About us

Hands of Luke Medical Ministries is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that serves underprivileged children and adults in El Paso, Texas and Juarez, Mexico. Hands of Luke was founded by Dr. Marco Samaniego in 1988, with the assistance of William “Buddy” Ball and Dr. David Reagan. Dr. Marco went home with the Lord in 2016. His wife Carmen and their daughter Laura Samaniego Mitchell lead the ministry until March 21, 2024, when Carmen was reunited in heaven with Dr. Marco, their son Marco Jr., and son-in-law Brian Mitchell. Laura now carries on the legacy her parents began and leads Hands of Luke as the Executive Director. In Juarez, Hands of Luke has a Children’s Home where we care for an average of 315 children a year, ages 5-13. We provide for their physical, mental and most importantly, spiritual needs. HOL also has 3 Nutritional Centers in the outskirts of Juarez where we feed 1,500 needy children and adults daily. HOL has a Bible Institute where church leaders and pastors attend, and we’ve had 83 graduates since it first opened in 2005. We have 13 Mercy Homes that are currently housing 60 single women and children. We have 4 churches that are ministering to 250-300 people several times a week. We also have 3 clinics where the medical team sees over 4,400 patients each year. We have 2 annual outreaches where we serve the community by providing a Thanksgiving meal to about 20,000 people and a Christmas gift bag to 5,000 children. We praise God for the blessing of allowing us to serve Him by ministering to others.
